I completed the 2015 Mystery Tat-A-Long from Craftree. All 9 parts. I really think you can see my improvement in my tension as each part was added.
My oldest finished off Kindergarten last week. I am so very proud of how hard he worked all year! Here he is on the last day of school going out the door to catch the bus.
He was done smiling by this point as he thought I was going to make him late and miss the bus.
I found a website for tatters, maybe a forum would be a better name for it, Craftree and right now they are having a mystery SAL and here is my so far. This is up to part 5 and there are 9 parts all together so this is going to be a large doily.
I know this doesn't look like much right now but at my stitching meeting the other night one of the ladies told me that after it is washed it should lay a lot nicer so I can't wait to finish it so I can give it a bath.

This tatted doily is going to do me in!! It absolutely kills my hand. Carpal-tunnel or something I think is causing me the pain so I can only do a little bit then take a break until my hand wakes back up and stops throbbing. No pain no gain they say, but I think that is better suited to working out and not tatting. :)
This still needs to be starched so it lays nicer. It will help all the parts go where they are supposed to and not twist up anymore.

Part 3 took me the better part of the day. It also didn't help that I had half of it done before I realized I was joining the wrong picots together and had to cut all that part off. :(
And since it took me all day and I had to go donate blood tonight, which I wasn't able to do because my iron was too low, I didn't get one stitch in on Hannah Lynn! It isn't very often that I don't at least cross one stitch. Oh well tomorrow is a new day :)
Hello! It is time again for TUSAL. I think I had a pretty good month and the tatting orts really filled my jar up!
I started at the beginning with the tatting again. One of my friends from the stitching guild is also tatting and she gave me the loan of a beginners tatting book and told me to start at the first and follow the lessons and boy am I glad I did. I had the idea of how to tat but I wasn't doing it properly and for that reason my pieces weren't laying very nicely. I am very pleased with how my improved tatting is looking. I am really looking forward to getting some more colors of thread to try out too.
I have also started Refl-egg-tions in my Mo's Sale silks. I absolutely love the colors of the silk but it is super slippery and kind of hard to stitch with, but it looks lovely when it is stitched up. I am really looking forward to having this hanging on my wall next Easter.
I broke down at stitching group last night and started Save The Stitches. I didn't get much done because...
...we were learning how to make Dorset buttons. I am so lucky to be part of a group of such talented people who are willing to share their knowledge with the rest of us. If you are not a part of a stitching group you should see if there is one in your area, I can't promise they will be a good as the one I am a part of, but I promise you will have a good time!
This was fun to do but it took so long!! There was a lot of thread to be wrapped around that ring.
Another one of the members spent Christmas with her family, and there was a shop close by that sold tatting needles so she picked me up a set. Can't wait to try these out!
And a little bit of progress on Hannah Lynn. I can't seem to get back into the grove on this one, but I need to because I would like to add at least 1 page to the SAL... it is not looking very good right now.

A few of us ladies from the stitching guild have decided to learn how to do tatting. Below is my first attempt. I don't have the proper needles, I am just using a longish "Carpet??" needle I have from a "home repair kit" I am quite resourceful when I need to be.
This was super fun. I think I will make a few up and give them for Christmas ornaments.

The kiddos made this last weekend. I am surprised there is any candy on it as they sure had their fill while they were decorating!
My little loves decorating the tree. Thomas just took an ornament and shoved his hand into the tree and let them go. I am worried that I will end up throwing some out with the tree this year.
They did a pretty good job though!
And I totally stole "The Mad Tatter" from another blog, With Needle and Thread, her mom does tatting and that is what she calls her :) Happy Stitching! or Tatting now I guess!
